Celebrating the District's 2008 CST Test Results

The Lowell Joint School District is proud to announce the results of the 2008 California Standards Tests (CSTs) results.  Each spring, students enrolled in grades two through eight are required to take the CSTs in English/language arts and mathematics.  In addition, fourth-grade students take the CST writing test, fifth and eighth-grade students take a CST science test, and eighth-grade students take a CST social studies test.

The following are highlights of the District's successes on the 2008 CST tests:
  • The District achieved higher at every grade level in English/language arts when compared to Orange County, Los Angeles County, and the State of California
  • The District achieved higher at every grade level in math when compared to Orange County, Los Angeles County, and the State of California
  • The District achieved higher in fifth-grade science when compared to Los Angeles County and the State of California
  • The District achieved higher in eighth-grade science when compared to Los Angeles County and the State of California
  • The District achieved higher in eighth-grade social studies when compared to Orange County, Los Angeles County, and the State of California
  • Although the State does not publicly report fourth-grade writing scores separately from the English/language arts scores, the District demonstrated dramatic increases in fourth-grade writing scores over last year due to the implementation of the Step Up to Writitng program
